Belly Dance Wedding Performances
Belly dancing is a key part of Egyptian wedding ceremonies and is used to celebrate joy and fertility. Families often have their marriage "blessed" by a performance from a belly dancer as part of the Weddings celebrations. This is becoming increasingly popular in the UK for both Egyptian and non-Egyptian weddings and is an elegant, fun and vibrant way to get your guests into the party spirit and if required, up and dancing!
In Egypt it is also traditional that the bridal party (Zeffah), is led through the streets, (and in more modern times the wedding venue) by a dancer bearing a lit Shamadan (Candelabra) on her head. In the days before electricity this cast light upon the bride and groom and served as an announcement that a wedding had taken place. This is a wonderfully romantic tradition which is now also being used by brides in the UK to lead their bridal party through their venue to the top table for the wedding breakfast or into the room for other key parts of the day when they wish to enter in style! Book a Belly has several performers that are skilled in the art of dancing with a Shamadan and available for your wedding!
